Outreach

I am periodically asked to discuss insects. From time to time, I provide resources and links so others can reference the materials after my presentation. You will find links to some of my resources beginning in 2025 below.

Periodically, I will ask participants in a class to provide an alternate word for insect. As a group, we will then categorize the entries as either positive, negative, or neutral. For those who wish to participate, this is the link to that exercise.

• 2026 – ASIW (Art and Science in the Woods) – part of the 51st annual event at the Sun Foundation.
• 2026 – Graceland Center for Purposeful Aging. Presentation held on May 8.

• 2026 – Clean Water Celebration. This is held every April at the Peoria Civic Center.
• 2026 – Boy Scout Insect Study Merit Badge. This session was held in February at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
• 2025 – OLLI Class at Bradley University (this as a 4 week class covering unusual, obscure, and preposterous insects with a focus on those found in central Illinois).
